Audit Trail 2007 Enhancements
While we still wish the functionality to filter by “last modified by” the enhancements in the audit trail report does make the process of reviewing the report a little easier. There were two audit trail enhancements included with the version 2007 release:
- Bold designation for the information that changed. This is extremely helpful when reviewing the report to quickly and easily see the ramifications of editing transactions. This makes focusing on the date and dollar amount changes easier while scanning over memo changes, for example.
- The other significant change is the ability to modify the report to not show deleted transactions. Since the void/deleted transaction report was added with version 2005, the need to have the deleted transactions on the audit trail report has decreased. Deleted and voided transactions are still an important part of internal control and looking for fraud, but having pages of deleted transactions on the audit trail report is not the most effective way to deal with the issue.
In summary, the changes do help in the usability of the report.
List Limits Expanded
For most QuickBooks users, the list limit for the QuickBooks Pro and Premier products of 14,500 is sufficient. For some, however, that is not the case. We have been seeing increased list size for a variety of reasons. One of the most common is the increased number of customers as the result of web site sales. For version 6 and prior, the list limit was doubled for the Enterprise Solutions Product. New with version 7, the Enterprise Solutions limit has been removed.
